I recently bought a beautiful York Master trumpet, the make and model issued to the U.S. Marine Corps Band soon after the second world war. Mine is in near mint cosmetic condition, BUT, it seemed stuffy or, perhaps leaky in sound. I checked it for leakage at each valve slide and found no leaks. I was stumped until a trumpet playing pro musician friend asked if the horn had been recently cleaned internally with acid. i remembered that the collector that I got it from told me that he had just gotten it back from his repairman who had done just that. My friend then laughed and told me to pour a half bottle of valve oil into the receiver and turn the horn into all directions to coat it liberally on all of the inner surfaces. I did this and after letting it sit over night it played like a dream. _________________ X2 Couturier trumpets
