I was born in Ridderkerk in 1968 in the Netherlands. I started to play the cornet at the age of 6. During my study at the Concertvatory of Music I followed a Masterclass with Anthony Plog.

Participation in Salvation Army bands has been a major part of my musical life. My salvation army banding membership includes: Ridderkerk Band, Rotterdam Congress Hall Band, South Divisional Youth Band, North-East Divisional Youth Band, Northern Divisional Youth Band, Groningen Corps Band, Emmen Corps Band, Stadskanaal Corps Band, and Rotterdam East Corps Band and Vlaardingen where he served as principal cornetist. I also played solo cornet and Soprano cornet in two contest bands: Brass Band David, Brass Band Schoonhoven.

At the age of 18 I joined the National Songsters (today’s Amsterdam Staff Songsters) of the Salvation Army. In 1990 I auditioned for the Amsterdam Staff Band and joined them. I was member of the Salvation Army Amsterdam Staff Band from 1990-2001. I served as cornet soloist and principal cornet from 2000-2001.

I had concerts and recordings with a few of the finest musicians in the world: David Daws, Roger Webster, Gordon Ward, Ron Waiksnoris, Louis van Dijk, Laurens van Rooyen, Denise Jannah, Judith Howard, Sue Johnson, penis Krommenhoek, Robert Redhead, Norman Bearcroft, Marc Bearcroft, Tracy Bearcroft, Christine Alexander, Peter Ayling, Kayte Harding-Chestney,  Karen Krinjak, Ira Spaulding, Don Lusher, Aaron Vanderwheele, Grethe Tonheim, Margareth Antrobus, Howard Evans and Phil Smith.
Also with groups like, The International Staff Band, The International Staff Songsters, The Hendon Band, The Enfield Band, Spiritual to the Bone, The Canadian Staff Band, The German Staff Band and many more.

My leadership background includes serving as Bandmaster of the Northern Divisional Youth Band, and Emmen Corps Band and Songster Leader of the Emmen Corps and Rotterdam East Corps Songster Brigades.

I have been featured as guest soloist and instructor at Salvation Army music camps internationally including Star Lake Musiccamp (1993) and has served as an instructor at the Dutch National School of Music for many years.

As a musician I visited the following country’s: The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Spain, Tjechian Republic, England, Northern Ireland, Eire, Scotland, Canada, New-Foundland and the United States of America.

At this moment I play lead trumpet with Gospel Unlimited. When I'm not playing, I sing the bass part.

Besides playing the trumper/cornet/flugelhorn I compose and arrange for Prisma Music (www.prismamusic.nl)[/url]

Wow! another Hollandisch cornetist. If you knew my family name you would greet me in the Holland language, which I do speak a small amount of. My family name starts with a Van, followed by a whole lot of other letters. I am a third generation away from The Netherlands and I play my grandfather's 1896 made short cornet as my primary horn. By the way, his given name was Jacobus and he named my father after his father; Servaas. Is that Dutch enough for you?

P.S.; Welkom.
