Hello,
I'm deacon tom. I am trying to get back to playing trumpet again after 40 or so years of not having picked up the instrument. Is it a hopeless venture you think?
I am told that one good thing I got going for me is that I am starting out afresh - a clean slate so to speak. I'm supposed to have forgotten all the "BAD" habits and "inefficient" ways I used to play with ... since I am basically self-taught.
Glad to meet all of you. I look forward to engaging you in good and beneficial conversations. _________________ DT

I am another long term comebacker. I was gone for over forty years too. I have been back for over six months and contrary to what you have been told, I have picked up most of my old bad habits along with most of the good ones. Playing in a community band keeps my interest at a boil and keeps me working to improve my playing.
BTW, I am having fun at my trumpeting,( corneting, actually ). _________________ X2 Couturier trumpets

many Getzen, Olds, Bach, Yamaha, Conn, King, etc. too many to list here.
To all comeback players----Don't expect too much progress too
soon, and don't think that a great horn makes a great player---
Get a decent horn, name brand, and practice ---but rest as much
as you practice----and get with a private teacher if you are really
serious about progressing.
