What exercises do you all use to expand your high register?

In my experience the worst thing that any developing cornetist/trumpet can do is to concentrate on high notes. What this does invariably is to cause the player to apply excessive mouthpiece pressure to the lips. Try to play within your comfortable and good sounding range with as little pressure as is possible. Eventually, you will discover that you can play ever higher and lower without squeezing the note out from a set of high pressure lips that will tire almost instantly, and, that you will have almost endless endurance.

The process is more important than the results.
We all want to hit that high note when we need to but it takes time and patience. Muscles have to be developed. A weight lifter can not go out and lift 500 lbs over night. They have to develop the muscles to do so. The same is true with playing a trumpet.
Lip slurs, scales, endurance, and practice are all a part of that process. Playing daily and consistently goes a long ways to helping to build those muscles. Pay attention to your method books. Many of them will have excercises that are just for strengthening those areas that will help you the most in expanding your register.
Hope this helps.
