I am having a bad problem coordinating my toungue and finger dexterity. It seems like my toungue moves faster than my fingers. Are there any exercises I can do to improve finger dexterity?
The first you need to do is slow down. Many of us tend to practice way too fast when we are learning.
If you slow down and make a concerted effort to match the toungueing with the fingering you will find that better coordination will result. Make sure that you dont get lazy in pushing down the valves. Make it a quick snap. We sometimes end up slowly pushing the valves down. This is specially true in slow sluring passages. Then start working up the speed.
It will not happen overnight but improvement will come. _________________ Harry Marks
Great Advice Harry! I suggest that you work on exercises specifically made for developing toungue coordination. Such as double, triple, staccato etc.. This is probably uneccesary because your problem will probably fix itself overtime. Good luck.
