All of us are high brass players and, we all have opinions. I wonder what makes us prefer one of our horns above all of our others. In my case, I am torn in my opinion of my cornets and my trumpets. I can't decide whether I enjoy my 1896 Wurlitzer short cornet or my Martin Commitee model cornet. I have the same quandry per my trumpets. I 'think' that I enjoy my Getzen Super Deluxe the most, but, then, I pull one of my 1922 Couturier trumpets out of it's case and promptly fall head over heels in love with that one. In all cases these horns have fantastic valves, perfect slotting, and seem to come to life when put to my lips.
Tell us about your favorites and why.
For the most part I have sold off the horns that I no longer love, but here's a direct answer to your question.
Flugel: Kanstul ZKF 1525 because of the wonderful dark sound, and great intonation qualities! Mine is silver plated, but I actually think the lacquer produces a better sound than mine, but I have an acid problem so I had no choice but to go with silver.
Piccolo -- Schilke P5-4 -- WOW!!!! What a great horn! I also love the Kanstul and if someone can't afford the Schilke the Kanstul is a close second!
Bb -- I am now playing the same Bach Strad that I've had since 7th grade! I love my horn and would not trade it for any horn of any brand, although I will admit that there are other horns that play as well -- maybe better.
My over all favorite is my Harreslon 750 modified Bach Strad C trumpet. It plays better than any horn I have ever picked up. It was Jason's personal instrument prior to my buying it and I doubt if there is a better C trumpet in the world.

Per your reference to Prof Hill's think system and that your horn almost plays itself, my grandpa used to admonish me to stuff the bell of my dad's King Super 20 Symphony trumpet with sterling silver bell with rags when I put it into the case, because he was of the opinion that the horn could and did play itself. I took umbrance with that attitude as it spoke volumes about my grandpa's poor opinion of my playing of the horn. Gladly, he was teasing me. While he was alive, he never missed even one of my performances.
I bought an old K. Allmen on eBay about a year ago. I use it for everything because it feels so good to play. Yes, it doesn't look like much, and I'm sure there are superhorns out there that may be far better. I have never had an instrument that fit me as well as my K. Allmen, my favorite horn.
My flugel came from eBay as well. I had been looking for a Selmer K-Modified flugel for decades and finally found one. The seller said it once belonged to old Hollywood studio trumpeter, Stuart Grow. I'm not 100% sure of that, but guys I know who played with him said he owned a Selmer at one time. The bottom line is that I love the feel of the horn. Intonation can be a problem, but I think it's more me than the horn.
So with the exception of an old Bach 43LR I keep as a back-up, I need nothing else except practice.
