1st flugel valve is sticking and looks a bit "scraped.&
I have a two month old flugelhorn and my first valve is sticking after it has been depressed for a beat or two. It comes up fine when I am playing moderately fast. I looked at the valve and it looks to be a little "scraped," i.e. the silverish color of the valve looks to be wearing to the brass color in some parts.
The shop I bought it from told me from the get-go to oil, oil, oil. And I have been, hoping that this problem will go away. And yes, I am careful to press directly down on the valve when I play and not to the side.
What do you think is going on and what should I do?

If it was mine I would be taking it back to where you bought it and demanding a replacement before the warranty is up.

If it is actually wearing down like that this could bring major problems in the future. I'd get it replaced before the warranty as alanbach said or take it to the repairman.
