first 2 mouthpieces, and current oneWhat mouthpiece did you start on and what was the 2nd mouthpiece you played? and what is your current mouthpiece? My first mouthpiece was a no brand 7C and my second mouthpiece was a Herco :oops: . The Herco is shorter than a normal mouthpiece, heavier, and about the inside cup diameter of a Bach 10 1/2C. It is a pretty good screamer and I got scolded by 3 different people for using it :sad: . I liked it but I had to listen to my teacher and use something bigger, a Bach 5C. So that's what I use now.

I first started on a bach 7c. The I moved on to a 7cw because it helped my endurance. Well... this will be easier:
1. 7C
2. 7CW
3. 5C
4. 3CW
5. 7DW
6. Bobby Shew Jazz
7. Warburton 5M w/ Q backbore
8. GR 67m2
The gr is currently my favorite mouthpiece.

First = Bach 7C
second = Bach 1½ C
third = Schilke 15 Gold plate when I cut my lip and I used this mouthpiece due to the softer curve in the rim to allow my lip time to get better.
fourth = Back to my second, but this time it was a Dennis Wick 1½CW gold plated.
fiifth = Now I play on a Dennis Wick 3CW Gold Plate.
I use the same mouthpiece on my C-trumpet.

I use a Giardinelli 17S for everything. I mostly deal with jazz/rock gigs and play lead. It gives me a nice full sound all the way from low f# through double c. It's the only mouthpiece I've found that allows me to play well through the full range of the horn.

Started on a Herco 7C (1966) and graduated to a Reeves 41S (2003) that I use for everything. I think I'm cured of my equipment "jones".

Started on an Olds 3. My second was a Bach 7c. I now play on a Yamaha Mark Gould Signature (around a Bach 1 1/4 C).
Over the years I have tried lots of others.=

First and current favorite mouthpiecesAs an elderly 'comebacker' I have been searching for the ideal mouthpiece for me and whichever horn I happen to be playing from my collection. For the majority of my playing, Concert band, teaching in a senior citizens beginners band,etc. I tend to prefer one of my cornets with a medium large deep cup mouthpiece. I have discovered that larger mouthpieces tend to reduce my lip endurance quite dramatically. I am aware that this is due to my still developing lip muscles, but, it is disconcerting to play an arrangement that goes above the staff frequently while using a large mouthpiece and not be able to make it up to that D above the staff three times in one selection, along with several C's above the staff in that same arrangement. For this type of concert band performance I seem to be gravitating to a 3C Bach. For most of the solo's that I have to play while in these concert bands, I am switching mouthpieces to an old Holton deep, vee shaped cup piece, immediately prior to playing the solo, as long as it stays below the A above the staff.
