I took a go at playing the trumpet once, had my friend guide me through the finger movement. He said that I was a natural, and played like someone with years of practice. However, I will never be able to play an instrument like such, as I dislike learning all of the notes. I can read sheet music though.

It's never too late to try again.

I used to hate learning all the notes too.
Once you do, it's kinda like riding a bike...they're just there.
Try it, you may like it! It's tough for a little while, but then it's just plain fun.

So if that is the case then why did you register and post here? Your comments are about as stupid as I have ever read on any board.
“I was a natural, and played like someone with years of practice.” ≠ “I will never be able to play an instrument like such, as I dislike learning all of the notes.”
Sorry for the rude post, but I suggest you go be a troll on some board other than a trumpet board!

I agree with bandman. Unless you have a question of some sort, please don't waste our time with useless comments.

Hey, watch IT!!!!!!!!! I made the logo that will go up on this site, and can wipe it from the face of the internet in a hearbeat. Also, I never said that i was playing of sheet music. just that the sound that i produced was far beyond what it should have been! In addition, you said that my posts were stupid, and that was my only one. You are all a bunch of ignorant fools(not all, only the last two, I am over exagerating)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on guys, give him a break. He's done me and this site a favor by making the logo that will soon go up. He did not have to join but wanted to and I for one am glad that he did. He is a valuable asset to TC. Since he is not a player, he posted about his experience with the trumpet. Do not mistake him for a troll as he has done a lot for this forum.

If he's your friend then he's welcome here -- he just better watch out for what he says about the trumpet. We have friends in high places!
Leviticus 25:9 "... on the day of atonement you shall send abroad the trumpet throughout all your land."
Corinthians I 15:52 " For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed."
Exodus 19:13 "No hand shall touch him, but he shall be stoned or shot; whether beast or man, he shall not live.' When the trumpet sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain."
Exodus 20:18 Now when all the people perceived the thunderings and the lightnings and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled; and they stood afar off,

Woah. Steady there...
It's great that you at least tried it. Maybe you'll pick it up again later and just start messing around with the horn and getting different sounds and stuff.
Like I said before, the notes are tedious and pretty boring to learn, but once you have them down, it's like riding a bike. They'll be there.
Thanks for helping Chris with the site and making the banner. Who knows, maybe hanging out with us trumpetgeeks will change your mind?

Okay, so it would seem that we are all cool now. ;) If anyone needs any graphics done, pm me and ill see what I can do.
Oh, and the trumpet is my favorite brass instument, I just prefer the ocarina(I have one, and it has only 5 holes, so not that many notes to memborize(I also use the cheat sheet music that shows the fingering)) and the hurdy-gurdy. Although, I will never have what it takes to play a hurdy-gurdy, especially the money, as they are rare and expensive.
