Olds AmbassadorI've heard the Olds Ambassador be called the best student horn ever made, but I've also heard it called a great pro horn. Is it pro or beginner? Also, why do they go for so cheap, for the most part, if they're so great?

They are great horns, I prefer them to many pro horns made today. They are so cheap because they were made by the THOUSANDS, they are a dime a dosen. I have one I bought for $30, it plays great.

Olds priceI can beat that story!!!!!!
I just today, bought an Olds """"RECORDING MODEL""" cornet in an as new case, with the horn likewise as new condition at a yard sale for $15.00 USD. The best buy I have ever made on any product.
NOW,I can grin. :

You should post that in the Pawn shop/yard sale bargains thread Lou. I think the Olds Ambassador was a remarkably well buit solid horn. However, it just seems that today they have to be customized greatly to compete with today's stock pro horns. Chris

Does anyone know how I would go about getting a second valve slide for an Olds Ambassador? If so, how much would it cost? Thanks.

You can try three guys on eBay: Centex Brass, frisco1227 and ez4u2bcool. You might also try The Bandroom. All of them seem to have a supply of older olds parts, and are good to deal with.
Good luck!

I agree. Try Centax Brass. They often have items on eBay.
