Ragtime

Anyone like Ragtime? It's got some very distinct differences from later jazz and I love it. Why is it not played so much anymore?

i enjoy it. if one plays pure ragtime, rather than attempting to 'jazz it up' (thus making it a dixieland product) it sounds like a march, a waltz, or even bach.
i believe it to be a bit classy to appeal to today's pop-culture ears.
i think american orchestras should offer some ragtime during each season. it's american music 'invented' right down in texarkana.
there is a trumpet duet book of joplin rags...forgot the name, but i have it at the office. i acquired it in the '70s.
