I was called to do Taps at a ceremony at a local long term care facility. Originally I was asked to do taps, then I found out that they were being presented a flag and dedicating a new flag pole.
I figured that Taps was inappropriate so instead I let them know that I would do To The Colors.
It was sobering to meet so many WW II vets. I is sad to realize that 1200 of these vets are passing away every day and that the military is unable to support the many requests for honor guards and buglers. That is why I volunteer.
