I don't know what it stands for, but I do know that at one time it was an east german company. B&S is now a part of a larger company called the JA Musik Musik Group, a European company that must be about 200 years old.
About 60% of the instruments they make are sold in Europe with Germany being the biggest market. They also produce stamp horns under many different names.
