I started at 16 (switched from clarinet/sax). I quit playing at 21 and then picked it back up at 26. That was ten years ago! Where does the time go?!?!

my dad is a band director, plays tuba really well, just doesnt keep his chops in shape anymore.
mom is a clarniet player and is amazing.

I started at age 10 in 1955. Did not get serious until two years ago. Had a 26 year period where I did not play.

tuba.. went to interlochen and all kinds of stuff when he was younger. then i guess the whole band director thing hot in the way.
but having a brass player in the house to help with anything was really nice

Started playing trumpetI started playing trumpet last year. I bought myself a trumpet with my 42nd birthday money, and I started taking lessons soon after. I took lessons for 3 months and things were going real well. I had to stop taking lessons, so here I am, a year later, looking for a new teacher.
Does anyone know a good jazz theory and improv teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area?
I bought myself a flugelhorn and I love playing that too.

I started playing a cornet at 9 years old in the 4th grade in the grand year of 1961. I switched to the trumpet about 2 years later.
It has been a love affair for all of these years.
