Blue Juice. I couldn't care less about the smell, it works great and lasts long, too.

I used the Roche-Thomas for years with pretty good success. Then I tried a differant brand and it really messed up the valves on my Strad. I cleaned it, had it chem cleaned, but just could not get the valves to work. I figured it was old and worn out, so I bought a Conn V1. Then someone suggested Blue Juice, so I tried that. I it worked well in everything, even the Strad; for about an hour, then the Strad would start sticking. Then about 6 months ago I was introduced to Ultra Pure oil. I tried a bottle and have not had any problems with any valves, including the Strad. I have since sold all my old oil and use only the Ultra Pure.

I think Blue Juice is good- for some horns. It worked great on my Strad but when I tried it on my Flugel it gummed up the valves really badly. I then switched to Al Cass.

For 50 years I used Al Cass. Then a friend told me about Binak. I tried it and will probably never use anything else. If you don't get the valves good and clean, the Binak will keep pulling the gunk off your valves. Once the valves are good and clean, it is a dream.

The reason it gummed up is because you probably didn't wipe down the valves before you applied the Blue Juice for the first time. Because of the chemical formula, Blue Juice turns all gummy when mixed with other oils.
