Yamaha XenosWhta do you think about the Yamaha Xenos? They are now outselling Bach Strads. My new Xeno is great. What is your opinion?

I refer a Vincent Bach or a Hub van Laar From holland 8)

Yes, some say the Xenos have a somewhat flat sound with no depth. In my experience my Xeno played much better than the stuufy-sounding Bach Stradivarius I compared it to.

XenosI really never have and probably never will like Yamaha. The xenos sound a bit too dark or flat for my taste, maybe only good for symphonic pieces and such. The xeno is an absolutly useless horn for marching or loud applications, I found when I tried it out that when I got loud in the upper register the pitches seemed flat and pitchy. For marching my opinion there is only one-Kanstul stadium. I dont have alot of experience on the Xeno but I can tell you not to use them for jazz, go with a taylor trumpet

The Xenos are great all around horns. They can be dark and mellow or they can be bright and great for jazz or marching band. IMO the Xeno blows Kanstul out of the water,even though Kanstul is alot more expensive. And sure,you could get a Taylor,if you have an extra $1000 bucks to spend. My point is the Xeno is a great all around horn and beats all other pro models in it's price range(and some above it).

xenoI have played many xeno's even kept some for a week or so...but I come to the same conclusion every time.( except for the C trumpets) at first I am like wow! this is great...and the more I play on it the more I dont like the xeno...The sound conception just doesnt jive with me! almost tubby at times...now the Xeno Artists models that just came out those are a different story...I just dont think they are 2900 dollars good...

Xeno TrumpetI changed from a Bach Strad to a Xeno last year and I love it. For me I like the sound, the ease in playing, the quality of hitting the notes and the feel of the horn. Strads are good horns but I am enjoying my xeno much better.-cleveland xenoman

What model Xeno do you have, and what are your primary uses for your horn?

usesI generally play my horn in church and making personal recordings.
I am still working on the comeback mode.

I just bought a new Strad after trying both Yamaha and Bach horns. I did not like the Xeno but liked the 8310Z....but in the end the Strad won out!

You do realize that DCI uses Yamaha Xenos exclusively? Right?

Many corps use Yamaha Xenos, but they are not exclusive. Kanstul Brass is also a major choice among DCI corps, and some corps us e instruments other than Yamaha and Kanstul.

I stand corrected. Either way, it has proved to be a very solid marching horn.

Woodwind & Brasswind are offering a deal with the purchase of
a Zeno YTR 8335RG----What is the difference in this horn and
the Zeno YTR 8335RGS----Both horns are silver plated I think.
